Current Research

This lab has two research foci: 1) the biology and impact of key arthropod pests and beneficials on New Mexico field crops, and 2) the biology and taxonomy of the true bugs (Heteroptera).

Arthropod Pests. We study economic pests such as the alfalfa weevil, blister beetles, flea beetles, painted bug (Bagrada), etc. and their natural enemies with the goal of determining their impact on NM agriculture and effective management.

Heteroptera. We also are interested in the bionomics and morphology of the Heteroptera, particularly the Pentatomoidea, stink bugs and their relatives. Many of these insects are poorly-studied in NM and may be pests or beneficials.
